I seem to be having the same conversation over and over recently, so similar and so re-occuring I almost want to start shaking people. But I'm a very little person so it wouldn't really have an impact but the feelings are there. 

So, the conversation is always had with a super talented creative with ideas and talent to boot - all which are suffocating under the fear of failure. Or otherwise, the "the logo is not quite right" or "I just need to get the business paper work sorted" or "hmm the product is just not quite ready" or "I just need more money" or "just waiting.. for the cat to do a handstand and then I can start"...

Sound familiar? If it does then this post if for you. 

My PROMISE to you is that, even if your business runs for 50 glorious years - your product will NEVER be perfect. And if it ever is perfect then you aren't trying hard enough nor keeping up with the times. Your logo will always be changing, your branding always being tweaked, you'll change your logo a hundred times and most of the time you'll most likely hate it and change it again. I've never spoken to the guy but i'm almost certain Sir Richard Branson still hasn't got enough money. AND I also know business documents take a whole of ten minutes to set up and the cat will never do a handstand, not while your looking anyway! 

Whatever your highly thought-out logical-reason is for not starting - i'm here to tell you it's just a shitty old excuse completely and utterly sugar coated. 

TIME TO THROW IT OUT.

I'll be very honest, my product was totally rubbish when I first started, the colours, the shapes, the finish of them were so awful it was shocking - I am still to this day bamboozled on how I sold even one pair. Today on the other hand, my product is gorgeous and given another month I absolutely guarantee it'll be even better again because thats just what happens. When you immerse yourself in your business and your product you become an expert, you are continuously learning and being educated by your mentors. The more you do.. the more you know. The more you know.. the more you do. Knowledge is power. 

I started Pebble+Fred with twenty dollars. No fancy website, no marketing guru, no professional packaging, I literally created the whole thing at home with the resources I had AND with a new born baby... building the business one, four hour nap at a time. 

In the beginning every dollar I made went straight back into the business. Better packaging, better materials, email software, e-commerce program, a better camera for product shots and the better things got the better things got! 

The thing is, you just have to START. Because if you don't start your product will never have the chance to get better, your branding will never evolve nor will your bank balance grow and sad as it is the only thing that will grow is the regret in your heart. Life is WAYYYYY to short for that heaviness.

Be the girl starting and failing, trying again and winning, started and winning, winning and failing, winning and growing, trying again and failing... get my picture? At least you'll be in the game and not on the crappy sideline. And better yet, be right smack bang in the middle the game... it's so so fun.
