I'm noticing that "what oils do you use?" is the 'word' right now.
Essential oils are the buzz and I know from my own experience they play such a massive role in my life and so naturally I'm always being asked.... what oils do you use?!
So, here goes. Here are my favourite oils I'm using and loving right now.
A few drops on a baby wipe ( how I did life before babies and baby wipes I'll never know! ) and I use this to wipe down surfaces I feel need a good clean. Things like my computer and keyboard, my design space, toilet seats or any place I would have usually used rubbing alcohol for back in the day. I swear lemon is like magic in a bottle. Everything it touches is made new again. I also use lemon to clean the floors, bathrooms and toilets using different ratios of bicarb and vinegar.
Most nights I try to slip into a hot Epsom Salt bath before going to bed. It's my way of restoring my nervous system. In the bath, I put 10 drops of Lavender oil, 1 cup of Epsom Salt and a nice glug of olive oil. This recipe I call "chill the hell out sister!!" :-)
After my bath, I put a few drops of Geranium on the palm of my hand with some coconut oil and lather it all over my body especially my face, neck and chest. This oil makes me feel "love". To me, it's the ultimate when it comes to self-love. Lathering it up before bed means I get to inhale all its goodnessas I sleep.
4. Frankincense or Frankie.
By far my favourite oil. Where DO I start?
1. Andy and I pop this oil into a veggie cap in the morning to fight off brain fog, create focus in our day and to ward off any anxiety or crappy moods.
2. I use Frankie in my face serum to help with scaring, pores and redness on my face. A magic wand (oil) for the skin.
3. I put Frankie in the diffuser while practising yoga and just under my nose while meditating.
4. Andy LOVES putting this on in the diffuser at night when we're working in the studio. Hello, FOCUS and productivity!
We put this in the car diffuser on long drives to pep us up! I love breathing it in DEEP before heading off for my walk of a morning AND I can guarantee you will always find homemade peppermint chocolate in our freezer. In the morning I'll also do some oil-pulling with a drop of peppermint oil. So good!!
6. Lavender Peace Doterra Blend.
This bottle lives in Haven's room! He's a good sleeper already but this helps him really go down because when he's awake he's ON! I put a couple drops on the souls of his feet and on his forehead. Calming is mind and body for a good sleep (I do this mainly, aka 100%, for my sanity.
7. Slim and Sassy Doterra Blend.
Some take this internally but I find it quite raw in my guts so that's why I'll put a few drops with some coconut oil and rub it on my thighs and butt - anywhere there is cellulite. I'll do this in the morning first thing after my shower.
8. Tea Tree.
I did away with conventional washing powder about a year ago and swapped it with bicarb, vinegar and a few drops of tea tree oil. I look at the washing now and wonder why I didn't swap over years ago! Those synthetic washing powder fragrances are crazy toxic.
9. Elevation Doterra Blend.
This oil has been consistently by my side since Haven's birth. Helping me elevate my mood, alleviate my PTSD symptoms and generally keep my head above water! PLUS this blend smells so good I wear it as my perfume!
I'm loving clove, especially at the moment because this year's wet season has brought smelly drains and mould into my house. Not awesome. I have been spraying clove in the shower to kill off the mould and puttingit down the drains with bicarb, vinegar and boiling water to remove those smelly smells!
I'm sure this list will change with the seasons but right now these oils are key.
I have four epic humans in my life supporting me on my oil journey. So if you've been thinking about diving in, make sure you check out these divine souls.
Listed in no order of anything.
